Overview

We present to your attention one of the most interesting ethnographic trips of Catalonia Rupit i Pruit & Besalu!

Catalonia is rich not only in a large number of historical monuments of various eras, but also in UNESCO-protected objects that are the property of mankind – the Rupit & Besalu tour is about this!

Located at the junction of the foothills of the Pyrenees and La Garrocha Nature Reserve. These 2 cities remained untouched by modern civilization, each of them is beautiful in its own way.

Our excursion in this city will begin with an entourage bridge leading to the city gates, across the Fluvià River.

Romanesque style gate of the XII century, the church of St. Mary (Santa Maria) X century, the Church of St. Petra (san Pedro) built in 977, the church of San Vincent (san Vincent) erected in the period XII - XIII centuries, will tell us about the combination of the Romanesque and Gothic styles of Spain and Catalonia of that period of time!

After spending in this small but cozy city declared to be the property of mankind in 1996, with a guide of at least 1 hour and in your free time at least 1 hour 30 minutes, you go further to a traditional Catalan dinner!

How rich, versatile and at the same time simple Catalan cuisine, you will see in one of the local restaurants, where we are kindly received, and familiarize themselves with their traditions!

Undoubtedly, there are places that exist outside of eras, times, and political events - this is a striking confirmation!
Now we will try to understand why ...

Fortress walls, a suspension bridge over the river, red foci of geraniums meeting us along the way, the same form of curtains along the main street, together with the frozen lava as a road surface, convey live greetings from the distant past of the Middle Ages, when the city will be destroyed by one of the eruptions the volcanoes of La Garrocha Natural Park, many of these volcanoes are still sleeping ...

At least 2 hours in this city (about 350 local residents) in the company of a guide and on your own, will make you look at many moments of the modern world from a different angle.
