Spain is remarkably diverse. Although all regions share Castilian Spanish as a common language, each of the country's 17 autonomous communities has its own cultural traditions, identity and history.
Travelling with us along the route Zaragoza – Madrid – Toledo, you will have the opportunity to experience this diversity first-hand and discover three cities that represent very different chapters of Spain's fascinating history.
Tour Itinerary
Zaragoza
The first stop on our two-day journey will be Zaragoza, the historic capital of the Aragon region.
For centuries, Zaragoza played an important role in the history of the Spanish Crown, producing generations of influential noble families and leaving a remarkable cultural legacy. It is also closely associated with one of Spain's greatest artists, Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes, who was born and raised in the region.
Among the city's most important landmarks are the magnificent Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar (Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Pilar), home to the revered Holy Pillar, the monumental Stone Bridge (Puente de Piedra) spanning the River Ebro, and many other historic sites.
You will enjoy 1 hour of guided sightseeing in the historic centre, followed by 1.5 hours of free time to explore Zaragoza at your own pace.
Afterwards, we will continue our journey to Madrid.
Madrid
The capital of Spain and its official seat of government for centuries, Madrid is a truly grand, imperial and monumental city.
During your stay, you will enjoy at least 1 hour of guided sightseeing and 2 hours of free time to explore the capital at your own pace.
The programme also includes a visit to the Prado Museum (Museo Nacional del Prado), with entrance tickets and the guide's assistance included in the tour price.
Among Madrid's most important landmarks, you will discover:
  • Puerta del Sol — one of the city's most famous squares and a traditional focal point for major celebrations in Spain;
  • Plaza Mayor, the historic heart of Madrid;
  • Royal Palace of Madrid (Palacio Real de Madrid);
  • and many other landmarks of the Spanish capital.
For those wishing to experience traditional Spanish culture, bullfighting and flamenco performances may also be available as optional activities for an additional fee, starting from approximately 35 € per person.
Toledo
After enjoying everything Madrid has to offer, we will continue to Toledo, another historic capital of the Spanish Crown and one of the country's most fascinating ancient cities.
After checking into our accommodation, we will say goodbye until the following morning. After breakfast, we will meet again and begin our guided sightseeing tour of Toledo.
We will explore the historic centre, home to some of the city's most remarkable landmarks, including:
  • Primatial Cathedral of Saint Mary of Toledo (Catedral Primada Santa María de Toledo) — one of Spain's most impressive Gothic cathedrals;
  • Santa Cruz Museum (Museo de Santa Cruz), housed in a former hospital and featuring works by El Greco;
  • spectacular natural viewpoints overlooking the city;
  • charming cafés, traditional shops and restaurants.
You will also have the opportunity to visit a renowned workshop specialising in Toledo gold jewellery and traditional metalwork made using the famous Damascene technique (Damasquinado).
There will be time to learn about these centuries-old crafts and, if you wish, purchase an authentic piece of Toledo craftsmanship as a memorable souvenir.
Consuegra
Another important stop on our two-day journey will be Consuegra — a place that will be especially familiar to anyone who knows the story of Don Quixote.
Do you remember the famous windmills that Don Quixote mistook for giants?
The spectacular landscape of Consuegra, with its iconic windmills overlooking the surrounding plains, provided the inspiration for many of the most recognisable images and scenes associated with Cervantes' masterpiece.
As with the other stops on our journey, you will have time for a guided sightseeing tour as well as free time to explore the town and enjoy its remarkable scenery.
Finally, we will begin our return journey to the coastal resorts. Along the way, our guide will continue to share fascinating facts and stories from Spanish history and everyday life — a fitting conclusion to this two-day journey through the heart of Spain.
