Montserrat & Barcelona — Two Highlights in One Day!
A unique tour and the opportunity to visit two iconic destinations in a single day — the monastery of Montserrat and the city of Barcelona!
With the goal of offering our guests more experiences, at a reasonable price and with a well-balanced use of their time, we have created a full-day journey combining two of the most important places in the history of Catalonia and SpainMontserrat + Barcelona.
There are several good reasons why this format works so well:
  • Montserrat is located just 50 km from Barcelona, making it possible to combine both destinations in one carefully planned day.
  • Montserrat and Barcelona share a common historical and cultural heritage, and understanding this connection often makes each destination much more meaningful when visited separately.
This is a journey designed for those who want to see more, understand more and make the most of their day in Catalonia.
Tour Itinerary
Montserrat
The journey to the Montserrat Natural Park and Monastery takes no more than 1.5 hours. Once there, you will ascend to more than 700 metres above sea level aboard the famous Cremallera rack railway.
Our experienced guide will take you on a 30–40-minute guided tour of the monastery's most important sites, followed by approximately 2 hours of free time to explore the monastery and its surroundings at your own pace.
During your free time, you will have the opportunity to appreciate the stories and historical facts introduced by your guide, including:
  • the first 8th-century hermits who settled in the mountains;
  • the history of the monastery before the Great Schism between the Eastern and Western Churches;
  • a hermit from Montserrat who accompanied Christopher Columbus on his first voyage to the New World;
  • the pilgrimage of Ignatius of Loyola, who visited Montserrat, made his famous vow here and later founded the Jesuit order;
  • the Escolania, one of Europe's oldest boys' choir schools;
  • and the monastery's most important Benedictine treasure — the famous Black Madonna, La Moreneta.
And much more...
IMPORTANTSince 2021, access to the Basilica, the Black Madonna and the Boys' Choir has been strictly regulated and requires advance reservation.
You will not need to spend your valuable time waiting in queues — we take care of the reservations for you!
Barcelona
After meeting your guide again at the pre-arranged meeting point, you will continue to Barcelona, where you will discover the city's main landmarks traditionally included in a panoramic sightseeing tour:
  • Sagrada Família (Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família) — exterior visit, no entrance included
  • Arc de Triomf
  • Passeig de Gràcia, one of Barcelona's main avenues
  • Casa Milà and Casa Batlló, two of Antoni Gaudí's most famous works
  • Approximately 2 hours of free time around Plaça de Catalunya and the Gothic Quarter (Barri Gòtic)
  • Montjuïc and the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc — the final highlight of our journey and a logical conclusion to this 12-hour day trip
This combination allows you to experience both Montserrat and Barcelona in one carefully planned day, without sacrificing the essential highlights of either destination.
