An Inspiring Journey to the Salvador Dalí Museum & Girona!
A fascinating journey combining two completely different worlds — the surreal universe of Salvador Dalí and the historic city of Girona.
Two parts, two different eras, and two unique cultural and historical stories!
Figueras
This is the city where the genius of eccentricity, a master of painting and writing, was born and later passed away. An artist whose extraordinary works, ideas and performances could be interpreted in countless ways — but who achieved perhaps the most important thing of all: he made the world talk about him.
Our guide's introduction to the Salvador Dalí Theatre-Museum, both inside the museum and as we explore its surroundings, will give you a fascinating insight into the many different sides of this extraordinary man, who once declared to the world:
“…Surrealism is me!”

Girona
For centuries, Girona has been far more than simply the capital of one of Catalonia's provinces. It has become one of the region's most important cultural and historical centres — and, in many ways, a true symbol of Catalonia.
The story of Girona begins long before the Roman era. In the 4th century BC, an established settlement of Iberian tribes emerged here. Over the centuries, it went through successive stages of development before becoming an important Roman stronghold in this part of the Iberian Peninsula.
With the construction of the Roman fortress of Gerunda, the city began a remarkable history marked by conflict and transformation. Over the centuries, Girona became known as the “city of a thousand sieges” and the “city of a thousand alleyways” — a place where different cultures, religions and historical eras have left their mark.
Girona also became an important centre of Jewish scholarship and Kabbalistic thought during the Middle Ages, leaving a lasting mark on the city's cultural heritage.
